![]() Lossy compression is designed to reduce significantly the amount of data required to represent the audio recording and still sound like a faithful reproduction of the original uncompressed audio. Thus, more often than not, a KF8 file will contain both a MOBI file at the beginning and the newer KF8 version of ePub later. However, the basic format remains as a PDB file similar in structure to a MOBI. The internal format has been decoded using mobi_unpack. It targets ePub 3 version support, but existing ePub can also be used. KF8 (also called AZW3) is essentially a compiled ePub that has utilizes a Palm database and Amazon's DRM scheme. It is a common audio format for consumer audio streaming or storage and a de facto standard of digital audio compression for the transfer and playback of music on most digital audio players. MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 Audio Layer III, more commonly referred to as MP3, is an audio coding format for digital audio that uses lossy data compression. It is supported by fourth-generation Kindle devices running firmware version 4.1.0 or later and the Kindle Fire device. In addition, it has several other formatting options and is used by Amazon for all new Amazon eBooks. ![]() It supports HTML5 and CSS3, which were not supported through the standard AZW format. AZW3 - Kindle Format 8 (KF8) is Amazon's newer version of AZW. ![]()
